About

Byron Ruiz has worked in orthotics and shoe labs as a trained technician since 1990.

Byron always liked anatomy and medical studies when he graduated from high school in Quito, Ecuador. The interest continued and Byron studied chemistry and biology and graduated from college with these specialties.

In 1991, Byron came to the United States and began working with his brother-in-law, a cobbler who owned several shoe repair store locations in New York. Byron was taught the trade and was responsible for making custom shoes and foot orthotics.

He then became a cobbler and received training in basic shoe modification including arch supports and casting techniques.

While Supervisor of Technicians, Shoemakers & Fitters at Eneslow-EPI Institute Byron created a program with the owner to teach basic pedorthics and shoe modifications.

Working at Amken Orthopedics and later at Otto Bock Health Care Industries Byron fine-tuned his skills.

Today, Byron has access to the best orthopedic machinery available including routers, finishers, industrial machines, commercial ovens, draping, modifying casts, and buffers to provide fitting of orthopedic goods both custom and prefabricated. He will not prescribe or diagnose any condition. Prescriptions are required.
